Collier County, FL — A man has died from drowning after going in the water to rescue a child that wandered into a lake at the Everly Apartments at 3372 Magnolia Pond Circle in Naples.
Greater Naples Fire and Collier County EMS crews responded to the incident at 8:19 PM Thursday night.
Initial reports indicate a child went in the water and an adult male went in after him.
The child was successfully pulled from the water but the man reportedly went under and never resurfaced.
A dive team responded and located the man, removing him from the water approximately fifteen minutes after he was last seen.
The man was later pronounced dead.
The child was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
The Collier County Sheriff’s Office is investigating.
