Lee County, FL — No injuries have been reported after a fire destroyed The Boathouse Tiki Bar and Grill at 5819 Driftwood Parkway in south Cape Coral.
Cape Coral Fire and Lee County EMS crews responded to the incident at 9:40 PM Thursday night.
A Battalion Chief with the CCFD confirmed that the fire appeared to have originated in the downstairs kitchen.
Employees of The Boathouse were closing the restaurant when someone noticed the fire.
After employees made several attempts to extinguish the fire, they were forced to leave the area shortly before the building became heavily engulfed in flames.
Thursday was the restaurant's first day open since the hurricane.
Everyone was able to safely evacuate and no injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is unknown but the building has been deemed a "total loss".
Firefighters could be seen fighting the fire from all angles, including from above and on fire boats.

As of 3:10 AM Friday, crews were still on the scene extinguishing several hotspots that kept rekindling.
The exact cause and origin of the fire is under investigation.
Firefighters are expected to remain on the scene throughout Friday morning.
