Lee County, FL — A man has been seriously injured after he was electrocuted inside of an LCEC substation at 4701 SE 8th Place in Cape Coral.

Cape Coral Fire crews were dispatched to the substation for a fire investigation at 7:35 PM Sunday evening.

When they arrived, they found a man inside of the substation who had been electrocuted and sustained burns across his entire body.

It took several minutes to make contact with the man as he was stuck behind the approximately ten to twelve-foot wall that surrounds the substation.

A LeeFlight helicopter was called to respond to the scene due to the extent of his injuries and landed in a vacant parking lot adjacent to the Winn-Dixie plaza on Cape Coral Pkwy E.

Just before 9:00 PM, LeeFlight lifted from the scene and transported him as a "Trauma Alert" to HCA Florida Blake Hospital in Bradenton, which is one of six comprehensive burn centers in Florida.

It is unknown how the man entered the substation or what his intentions were.

Cape Coral Fire Inspectors have been requested to investigate due to the circumstances of the incident.

No further information has been made available.

LCEC trucks were seen parked outside of the substation just after 9:00 PM Sunday night.
