Woman seriously injured after crashing into pole in North Fort Myers

Lee County, FL — A woman has been seriously injured after she crashed her vehicle into a pole at N Cleveland Avenue and Stockton Street in North Fort Myers.

North Fort Myers Fire and Lee County EMS crews responded to the incident at 12:15 AM Wednesday morning.

The following information has been sourced from Fire & EMS radio communications. These details have not been independently confirmed by FHP:

Paramedics report that the female driver of the vehicle is approximately 28 years old.

She was estimated to be traveling at a "high rate of speed" when she crashed into a pole.

She was ejected from the vehicle approximately 25 to 30 feet and was found lying in the roadway unresponsive.

EMS crews transported her to Gulf Coast Medical Center as a "Trauma Alert" due to the severity of her injuries.

It is unknown if any other vehicles played a factor in the crash.

Southbound lanes of US-41 are shut down at Diplomat Pkwy E.

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating.
