Crews knock down house fire along NE 16th Pl in Cape Coral

Lee County, FL — A woman has sustained minor injuries after a house exploded into flames at 712 NE 16th Place in Cape Coral.

Cape Coral Fire and Lee County EMS crews responded to the incident at 8:41 PM Monday night.

Multiple neighbors in the area told UCBN that they heard a loud explosion shortly before seeing a column of smoke rising above the home.

Fire & EMS radio communications indicate that first-arriving fire crews observed heavy smoke and flames showing from the front of the home.

Firefighters knocked down the fire and noted extensive damage to the roof and front lanai.

A woman at the scene was treated by EMS crews for smoke-related injuries.

Firefighters also rescued a cat from inside the home.

The home has been deemed uninhabitable and The Red Cross has been contacted to assist with temporary housing for the residents affected.

The Cape Coral Fire Department and State Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
