9:13 AM — The Florida Highway Patrol has confirmed that a 37-year-old Fort Myers man is dead after a crash involving a motorcycle on Palm Beach Boulevard on Friday night.
According to FHP, the white sedan was being driven by a 47-year-old North Fort Myers woman at the time and was traveling north on Alta Vista Avenue approaching Palm Beach Boulevard.
The motorcycle was traveling east on Palm Beach Boulevard, approaching the intersection at Alta Vista Avenue.
The sedan then, in the direct path of the motorcycle, attempted to cross all eastbound lanes of Palm Beach Boulevard.
The front of the motorcycle then crashed into the side of the sedan, subsequently ejecting the motorcyclist.
The motorcyclist sustained critical injuries and was pronounced dead shortly after being transported to Gulf Coast Medical Center.
The sedan driver sustained serious injuries and was transported to Gulf Coast Medical Center as a "trauma alert".
The crash is still under investigation.

Lee County, FL — A motorcyclist has died and another person has been seriously injured after a sedan and a motorcycle crashed at Palm Beach Boulevard and Alta Vista Avenue in Fort Myers.
Tice Fire Rescue and Lee County EMS crews responded to the crash at 10:05 PM Friday night.
Initial reports indicate a 55-year-old male motorcyclist sustained critical injuries and a 48-year-old female, who was the driver of the sedan, sustained serious injuries meeting "Trauma Alert" criteria.
Both patients were transported to Gulf Coast Medical Center, where the motorcyclist was pronounced dead.
All eastbound lanes of Palm Beach Boulevard were shut down at Ortiz Avenue but have since reopened.
The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating.
