Three injured after vehicle crashes into home in Cape Coral

Lee County, FL — Three people have been injured, one critically and one seriously, after a vehicle crashed into a home at 146 NE 6th Place in Cape Coral.

Cape Coral Fire and Lee County EMS crews responded to the incident at 6:07 PM Sunday evening.

The following information has been sourced from Fire & EMS radio communications. These details have not been independently confirmed by CCPD:

Paramedics report that two people were inside of the vehicle at the time of the crash.

The elderly male driver reportedly experienced a medical episode which caused him to become unconscious.

As paramedics attempted to treat his condition, he momentarily went into cardiac arrest.

EMS crews were able to successfully regain his pulse and transport him, along with his wife, to Gulf Coast Medical Center. Both patients were declared "Trauma Alerts".

The third victim, who was inside of the home at the time of the crash, sustained minor injuries.

The home and vehicle both sustained heavy damages.

NE Pine Island Ln is shut down between NE 7th Ave and NE 6th Ave.

The crash has been declared a "Traffic Homicide Investigation" due to the presence of life-threatening injuries.

The Cape Coral Police Department is investigating.
