1:30 PM — The Florida Highway Patrol confirms two people are now dead after this crash.
Reports indicate a sedan traveling eastbound on SR-82 attempted to make a left turn onto Paula Ave in the path of an SUV traveling westbound on SR-82 at a “high rate of speed”.
The front of the SUV collided with the right side of the sedan.
The driver of the sedan, an 18-year-old Lehigh Acres woman was transported to Gulf Coast Medical Center where she was pronounced deceased.
A passenger in the SUV, a 35-year-old Lehigh Acres woman, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the SUV, a 34-year-old Moorehaven man, sustained serious injuries, while three additional passengers in the SUV, a 19-year-old man, a 17-year-old boy, and a 34-year-old man all sustained critical injuries and were all transported to Gulf Coast Medical Center.
Troopers say the crash remains under investigation.

Lee County, FL — One person has died and another four have been seriously injured after a two vehicle crash at Paula Avenue and SR-82 in Lehigh Acres.
Lehigh Acres Fire and Lee County EMS crews responded to the incident at 10:30 PM Saturday night.
Initial reports indicate four occupants sustained injuries meeting “Trauma Alert” criteria. All four patients have been transported to Gulf Coast Medical Center.
All westbound lanes of SR-82 are blocked at this time.
The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating.
