Man dead after SUV rear-ends moped on Cape Coral Bridge

10:50 AM — The Florida Highway Patrol confirms a 39-year-old Fort Myers man was killed after the moped he was riding on was rear-ended by an SUV.

Troopers say the man was riding eastbound on the Cape Coral Bridge in the right lane when an SUV driven by a 38-year-old Fort Myers woman collided with the back of his moped.

The man was ejected from the moped and pronounced dead at the scene.

This crash remains under investigation.

Lee County, FL — A motorcyclist has died after a crash in the eastbound lanes of the Cape Coral Bridge.

Iona McGregor Fire and Lee County EMS crews responded to the incident at 10:07 PM Friday night.

The male motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:21 PM.

Eastbound lanes of the Cape Coral Bridge are completely shutdown.

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating.
