10:45 AM — On September 12th, 2024, troopers with the FHP's Traffic Homicide Division placed 19-year-old Alexander Isbel Cruz in custody in connection to this crash.
FHP says that Cruz' motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed when it collided with another motorcycle, killing the rider along Interstate 75 in Fort Myers.
He was estimated to be traveling between 96 and 106 miles per hour.
Cruz was arrested on a felony warrant for one count of Vehicular Homicide.
He has since been booked into the Lee County Jail.

9:55 AM — The Florida Highway Patrol confirms a 21-year-old man has died and an 18-year-old man has sustained critical injuries after two motorcycles crashed in this incident.
Troopers say both motorcyclists were traveling at a high rate of speed southbound on I-75 near the 138 mile marker before they lost control and became separated from their motorcycles.
Both motorcycles came to a rest in the grassy shoulder on the west side of I-75 a few hundred feet south of the area of the collision.
A 21-year-old Cape Coral man was pronounced dead at the scene.
An 18-year-old Cape Coral man was transported to Gulf Coast Medical Center with critical injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.

Lee County, FL — One person is dead and another has been seriously injured after a motorcycle crash at the 137 mile marker of I-75 SB in Fort Myers.
Fort Myers Fire and Lee County EMS crews responded to the incident at 10:37 PM Tuesday night.
One motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.
Another motorcyclist was declared a “Trauma Alert” and transported to Gulf Coast Medical Center.
All southbound lanes of I-75 are blocked south of Martin Luther King Jr Blvd (Exit 138).
The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating.
