Deputies swarm home on Prospect Ave in Fort Myers

Lee County, FL — One person was transported to the hospital after deputies surrounded a home at 320 Prospect Avenue in Fort Myers.

Fort Myers Fire and Lee County EMS crews were dispatched to an "unknown distress" call at 11:19 AM Thursday morning.

At around 1:00 PM, the scene was still active and operatives from the LCSO's Special Operations Unit could be seen exiting the home in tactical gear and gas masks.

Firefighters could also be seen retrieving a pike pole and ladder from the home that deputies were surrounding.

Members of the Patrol Bureau, Tactical Narcotics Team, and Fugitive Warrants Unit were also on scene.

A deputy on scene confirmed that tear gas was deployed inside of the home.

One person was transported to the hospital from the scene with unknown injuries.

Prospect Ave was previously shut down for two blocks due to the incident.

The LCSO has only confirmed that the incident is related to an active investigation.

No further information has been made available.
