The Collier County Sheriff’s Office has released this statement regarding today’s incidents:
“A man and woman are dead in an apparent murder/suicide today in Collier County.
The suspect and victim were known to each other and this was an isolated incident.
Shortly after noon deputies responded to a report of a shooting in a shopping plaza parking lot at 2740 Bayshore Drive. The female victim was dead and the male suspect fled the scene as deputies were responding.
The investigation quickly led deputies to 27th Street SW in Golden Gate Estates, where they believed the suspect may be located. Several CCSO units including SWAT, K9 and Aviation responded to the area.
The suspect died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound on a path leading into a wooded area at the end of 27th Street SW.
Additional information will be released as it becomes available.”

Additional preliminary reports indicate the male suspect who barricaded himself inside a home on 27th Street SW is dead.

Preliminary reports indicate the male suspect involved in the shooting on Bayshore Drive has barricaded himself inside a home on 27th Street SW in Golden Gate Estates.
Deputies have not confirmed that this is the case or that these two incidents are connected.
Deputies are negotiating with the suspect in an attempt to bring him out of the home peacefully.
SWAT team personnel and equipment began arriving at the scene around 3 PM.
27th Street SW is blocked in the area as deputies continue to work this scene.

Collier County, FL — A woman has died after a shooting in the parking lot of 2740 Bayshore Drive in East Naples.
Greater Naples Fire, Naples Fire Rescue and Collier County EMS crews responded to the incident at 12:44 PM Wednesday afternoon.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Collier County Sheriff’s Office has not confirmed if any arrests have been made in connection with this incident.
The investigation is ongoing.
This is a developing story.
