8:40 AM — The Florida Highway Patrol confirms a 4-year-old boy and a 26-year-old man have died after a crash involving a motorcycle and a pickup truck at US-27 and Flaghole Road in Clewiston.
At 9:25 PM Saturday night, troopers say a pickup truck was traveling north on US-27 in the left turn lane approaching the intersection of Flaghole Road, while a motorcycle was traveling south on US-27 approaching the same intersection.
The pickup truck attempted to make a left turn onto Flaghole Road in the direct path of the motorcycle.
The front of the motorcycle collided with the passenger side of the pickup truck causing the pickup truck to overturn.
The motorcyclist became separated from his vehicle and partially pinned underneath the overturned pickup truck.
The motorcyclist, a 26-year-old Clewiston man was pronounced dead at the scene.
A passenger in the pickup truck, a 4-year-old boy from Clewiston was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not in a child restraint.
Another passenger in the pickup truck, a 58-year-old Clewiston man, was declared a “Trauma Alert” and transported by LeeFlight to Gulf Coast Medical Center with serious injuries. He was not wearing a seatbelt.
The driver of the pickup truck, a 66-year-old Cape Coral man, was wearing a seatbelt and sustained minor injuries.
US-27 has reopened after being closed for several hours overnight.
The Florida Highway Patrol continues to investigate.

Hendry County, FL — Two people have died and one person has been seriously injured after a crash involving a motorcycle and a pickup truck at US-27 and Flaghole Road in Clewiston.
Clewiston Fire and Hendry County EMS crews responded to the incident at 9:25 PM Saturday night.
Two people were pronounced dead at the scene.
An additional person, an approximately 40-year-old male, was declared a “Trauma Alert” and transported by LeeFlight to Gulf Coast Medical Center.
Eastbound lanes of US-27 are completely shutdown.
The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating.
