Bicyclist dead after crashing into FedEx truck in Cape Coral

4:27 AM — The Cape Coral Police Department has confirmed that the bicyclist involved in this crash has died.

CCPD confirmed that the FedEx truck was properly parked with its hazard lights on at the time of the crash.

The bicyclist was reportedly wearing a helmet and was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

The exact cause of the crash is still unknown.

Lee County, FL — A bicyclist has been critically injured after crashing into a FedEx truck at Northeast 16th Avenue and North Gator Circle in Cape Coral.

Cape Coral Fire and Lee County EMS crews responded to the incident at 11:41 AM on Friday morning.

The 25-year-old male bicyclist reportedly sustained critical blood loss and multiple skull fractures.

He was transported to Cape Coral Hospital in traumatic arrest.

All westbound lanes of North Gator Circle are shut down.

The Cape Coral Police Department is investigating.
